Around two weeks ago I came across a tweet about spaces at a London meet up for beauty and lifestyle bloggers. I was sceptical at first, thought I’d be rejected an invite due to not being a ‘beauty’ blogger per-say, but they happily let me fill one of the last remaining spaces. Yay! (and eeek!)
I’d never been to a bloggers meet before, so naturally, I was nervous as hell. I had literally no idea what to expect apart from what the venue looked like due to researching it before hand and maybe see a handful of bloggers that I recognised from twitter that were also attending.
Wow. Got totally more than what I was expecting in turns of a meet up!
Firstly, it was based at Bittersweet cocktail bar in Soho, very swish!
There were Hairdressers from Fordham Salon Soho creating fantastic stylish hairstyles for us bloggers, for free! I guess it gets their name out there, but still, crazy. They enhanced my natural waves (which I hadn’t tried before) and ended up loving the added volume! Definitely needed after a mad dash in the drizzle trying to find the venue resulting in a WELL flicky fringe going on!
We also got to take part in a 20 minute cocktail making session (for a mere 5 pounds) which was really fun and got me chatting to more bloggers. Plus the drink was luuush. I forget what the name of it was but it was the previous managers signature drink which included chilli, gin, pomegranate, lemon juice and egg whites (for thickening) and I’ve got to say, it was oh so yuuuum.
An Australian Skincare brand, MooGoo, gave us a presentation and got to try out some of their skincare range. It was all natural skincare varying from cleansers to foot rubs and facial creams. Felt very smooth on my hands, which was welcomed as they’ve been falling apart recently with work (hand washing every five seconds at work and of course, winter). Also managed to pick up some small freebie samples at the end of the event. Winner!
They also told us about a brand new makeup brand, Dusty Girls, which is mineral based in a variety of shades that reflect the light to help blend with skin tones perfectly. I cannot wait till they launch in the UK properly so I can get my hands on some of these bad boys. Maybe beauty blogging isn’t such a bad thing after all? I love trying out new products and getting advice and recommendations from fellow bloggers, especially being a pale ginger, its hard to pick colours sometimes that aren’t going to make me look ridiculous!
Anyway… back to the event!
There was also a representative from Stella and Dot with a lovely selection of unique jewellery, my favourite being the arrow bracelets, layered necklaces and ring pieces. You can check out more of their gorgeous collection over here.
There was also henna and nail painting going on but alas, there was not enough time to try out everything! Plus for me it was more about socialising with fellow bloggers. Which I feel I did pretty well. Whilst sipping cocktails!
Onto the charity raffle! Now, I never win anything at raffles. Ever. Im pretty sure the only thing ive ever won is a can of soup at a tombola. I however bought 5 tickets anyway (what the heck, its for charity and the prizes looked amazing) and I ended up winning not once, but twice!
The first of which was this lovely W7 goodie bag filled with some amazing looking make up products! I have yet to try them out as I have been in Krakow for the last 5 days, but will be sure to try them out soon and let you now what I think! Not sure about the fake eyelashes though, always found them too fiddly for my liking, but have a friend that probably wouldn’t mind trying them out.
The second prize I got was these cute earrings from Candy Clothing! I’ve enjoyed wearing the little donut studs, they’ve made me feel so young again!
Alongside the raffle, we also gall got given a goodie bag filled with produts from brands at the events and some extra bits and pieces! Totally wasn’t expecting to get anything from this event at all so was pretty overwhelmed leaving with 3 lots of goody bags!
After the event, a handful of us went across the road and had some gorgeous burgers at Byron whilst having a good old chat about blogging and just generally getting to know new people, including Lauren from Blonde Vision who was one of the lovely ladies hosting the event. Thanks again for a brilliant day, looking forward to attending many more in the future!
